Update from Dick 1/28/06

Hi Everyone!
We are back in Maine and Finn is being transported to Mid-Coast Hospital this afternoon. He is eating like a champ and should not not be much longer until we can take him home. Heather is doing great..better than great, though her crappy chemo week should be starting any day now. Last night we enjoyed watching all of our dear friends in the first show of Winter Caberet. Great laughs, go see it! It was our first outing since the beginning of October and probably the last before we have to think about finding a babysitter. Heather wants to add another entry very soon. We are spending the day cleaning up the clutter in our house, folding the laundry and getting Finn’s room ready for him. This afternoon we are off to Maternity at Mid-Coast, the place this all started. It feels like going home.
Keep vanishing cancer cells!
Love and Thanks to All
Dick

From Heather - 1/19/06

So I get it now…I really get it. We are so in love with our little man. I am addicted.I just wish we could take him home, and I long to see him without all the wires. It breaks my heart to see that little body covered with medical technology, although I am glad it is available to help him through to perfect health. there’s more →

Finn Arrival Update

Apparently Finn is not a fan of labor induction. The doctors decided a c-section will be the best route for Heather’s and Finn’s safety. They are moving forward with a scheduled c-section tonight. We will post more updates as we have them but plan on being in a holding pattern until tonight.
Thanks for everyone’s well wishes and support. Dick, Heather and Finn truly appreciate it.

Update - 1/11/06

Hi All,

Heather and Dick (and Finn) are back in Boston. Heather had her blood levels checked on Mon. and they were quite low. She goes back into the hospital today and will have levels checked again. If all is well, the docs will try to induce labor tomorrow. If Heather can’t deliver naturally, she is scheduled for a C section on Friday morning at 8AM. You have all been really super leaving messages and prayers for our little family!!!!!! Please send your positive energy and prayers once again to help them through these next few days. All your efforts have helped so tremendously to carry them through all the dark times.

Love to all,
Heather’s Mom

Note from Heather - 1/10/06

Hello all,

We are resting and having a nice stay at Kimmie’s today. Tomorrow we check back in to the hospital for our big week. I have been feeling better and better each day, recovering from my last round of chemo. Tomorrow they will start giving me a steroid to give Finn’s lungs a boost before his arrival, and we will also do a final check up on my cell counts to make sure I am healthy enough to give birth. If all goes according to plan, they will begin to enduce me on Thursday night. If we’re making progress, we’ll continue on that path. If not, we will go ahead with the scheduled C-section for Friday. Our little warrior should be here by Friday night! there’s more →

1/6/06 update - from Dick

Hi All,

We are just now back from the latest trip to Beth Isreal for check ups and such. With a week to go, Finn is now 3lbs. 14 oz. Dr Takoudes is very happy with him. He is doing well. Heather’s blood counts came back high, so high in fact, that Dr. Buff thinks they have not yet come down as low as they will. This is Heather’s tired week. As her counts dip, she sleeps a lot and is dealing with some stomach problems. Nothing severe, but eating and digesting are uncomfortable. Her mobility is good today. Lots of wobbling around without her crutches. We have been making an effort to meditate and visualize on perfect health. It is helping. there’s more →
